Automatics at the reunion?

How many original automatic cars were at the reunion?

Re: Automatics at the reunion?

Bill Ogle's Harrell COPO 427 that was there was an automatic Turbo 400. My 69 Baldwin Motion Phase III SS 427 that was there is also an original Automatic Turbo 400. Out of the 6 existing 69 Baldwin Motion Phase III Camaro's it is the only one in existence. As to Yenko's, ZL1's, COPO's and others there; I didn't notice as to how many were Automatics. The Automatics are definitely more rare.

As automatic transmission Supercars are more rare than 4 speeds, some say that doesn't necessarily make the car more desirable as a collector car. I say that is personal preference, as I am fine with owning either an automatic or 4 speed.

Back when Dick Harrell was alive, he had some input on this. For example encouraging Fred Gibb in 1968 to order the 50 COPO L78 Turbo 400 Novas. Besides Ogle's Harrell COPO 427 Turbo 400, my Harrell COPO 427 is a Turbo 400 Automatic as well. I think there could be one or two more Harrell COPO 427 Turbo 400 around. Harrell's transmission of choice was definitely Automatic.

you can't miss dropping it into low gear on an automatic and hammering it, i personally think the automatics due to there rarity are gaini ng in popularity, they make nice drivers or burn outers , sp.

Our '69 auto was there. It was the one with this nifty sticker on the window:

John,
Two of the four ZL1's at the reunion were original automatic cars. Both were ordered by Fred Gibb.
