840 heads
 

I found a guy with a set of 840 heads date code is J24 8 they are ported and polished ,look almost new,came off a 427 out of a 69 corvette he transplanted one of the new corvette engines in,he is wanting $750.00 for them,is this a fair price.any help will be greatly appreciated,both heads have the same codes,I heard the engine run,he has it in a 61 bubble top and is putting on a set of edelbrock aluminum heads in place of the 840s.

That price seems to be fair depending on the condition.Do you need those dates, because I certainly do ?

I sold a set of bare castings with matching date codes for $600.
That soulds like a good price.

The latest issue of Hemmings has a set for sale, coded for early 1969 @$775.00 for the pair.

Sounds like the guy is asking a fair price then,If I purchased some other than locally I would have to pay shipping and that would put them well over $800.00.I think I will buy them for my new engine project.
