Are there any nice repro fenders?

I need a set of 69 RS front fenders. The only repro fenders I have seen did not fit very well. I dont want to cut corners on this car, If I have to buy GM to get a nice fit I will. thanks for the help.

Jerimiah,
Standard fenders can be transformed by changing the grill mounting bracket which is spot welded to the fender.
I did this years ago ,and remember it to have been no problem.

The fenders will have to be replaced anyway due to rust. I have only sen one repro 69 fender installed and was not impressed with the fit. Thank you for you replies.

Jeremiah.

As far as repro fenders go , i dont believe there is such a thing as a correct fit (from my experience )
Goodmark seams to have some decent panels and i have heard a lot of good things on their panels fitting well but some adjustments are still needed.

your best bet is to hold out for a NOS set to surface if your restoring a quality car.

there a bit steep price wise but worth the money and time saved .

Just my 2 cents.

PS .there is a guy in Logansport IN who has a set of NOS 69 fenders and he has a post on the TEAM CAMARO classifieds....
Go to classifieds and hit 69 parts .
his name is Jeff also and i believe they were 1500 for the pair.
Dont remember if they are RS or STANDARD.

Hope this helps

Re: Are there any nice repro fenders?

Jeremiah, the early 69 repro fenders had fit problems due to a misalignment of the welding jig. The inner bracing was welded to far back (towards the rear of the fender) which would not allow for proper adjustment for the door gap. I have installed probably 15 - 20 of these fenders and they fit just as good as the GM fenders and the quality is there also. Be sure to buy your fenders from someone who keeps inventory moving, such as Goodmark, Year One, or Rick's. You will know then that you are not getting a set of fenders that have been sitting around for a while.

The repro fenders are made for use on both RS & std front ends. To use them on a std front end you have to remove or bend back the tabs for the RS h/l mounting bucket bolts.

It is a good thing you are not working on a 67 or 68 and needing fenders as the repros are not worth the trouble. I had to buy a set of NOS GM fenders from Ron Norman because of poor fitting fenders on a 67 I am restoring for a customer. My customer has as much investment in the repro fenders with my labor included, by trying to make them fit, as he did in the NOS GM parts............RatPack.......................

I too have had a recent, frustrating experiece with the 1967 fenders (used on a Fire Bird).
Even after hours of alignment and(which would have almost covered the cost of the NOS set I passed up)adjustment, they do not fit poperly.

Here ya go, six fenders in one auction, buy it now for about $60 apiece: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1817661226 . At that price, if one or two don't fit, who cares.

Re: Are there any nice repro fenders?

Since the topic of reproduction fenders is going, does anyone have any opinions of or real-world experience with the Nova fenders (68-74) that are available?

Are they good fitting and high-quality parts, or junk?

Would it be better to rework original GM parts over switching to repops?

Any opinions, comments, or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
