Re: L-72 427SS Impalas
I am new to this board and I was wondering if any of you could answer me some questions. I bought a '66 Impala SS awhile back that was a big block, TH400, and open 12bolt. When I bought it the guy said that he just pulled a 427 out of it and I pulled off some 427 badges off of the fenders when I stripped it for paint. These are both easy pieces to fake, how would I know if it is real? Is there any tell tail signs on the '66 to show a factory 427 over just a 396? Thanks.

Re: L-72 427SS Impalas
The VIN tag will denote whether it's a real SS or not. If the trans and rear are original to the car, they may also have tell tale signs to it's authenticity, sometimes the suffix codes on the trans and rear end will tell which engine should be bolted to it. Post the numbers @ www.impalass427.com and I or someone else will help you decode it.

Re: L-72 427SS Impalas
We have decoded the VIN to say that it is a real SS but that is as far as we have got. I will check the number and post them. Thanks.
