Re: KoMOTION
Marlin,
Yes, I took a look at it at Carlisle... It was in Building T if I'm not mistaken. Very neat piece of hardware. Regards, Stan Falenski |
Re: KoMOTION
I had at one time a magazine that had a feature on this car, may have been Hi-Performance Cars late '68- or early '69. Article mentioned that "Astoria Chas" Snyder was killed in Vietnam and his friends back home finished the car and ran it. Being a Vietnam war buff I was curious how he died after reading the article. There is a website that gives a picture, complete bio-hometown/highschool attended etc, how and when each soldier was killed in 'Nam. I will try to find it as there are hundreds that basically do the same thing on the web-I found it by luck the first time. I just did a quick search on PFC US Army Charles Snyder and he was killed on August 27, 1968 from non-hostile, illness/injury. The sub note mentioned these are usually cases where someone is run over by a truck etc. I anyone is interested I will post the bio.

Re: KoMOTION
From the Carlisle web site "The 1967 Ko-Motion Corvette has not been seen since it raced in 1969. The car, originally campaigned by Astoria Chas and then his family after his death, is now owned by New York resident Glen Spielberg. The car is as it was in 1969 even with 10.74 dial-in written on the rear window in shoe polish."
Stan, did you see another Motion Corvette at Carlisle? I read on a web site that there was one for sale by an older couple for 150K. |
Re: KoMOTION
Joe,
Yes, there was another Motion Corvette at the show. The asking price for the car was indeed $150,000. The car had decent paint, but was by no means a top shelf restoration... Way overpriced in my opinion, but I'm a bit biased as I've never been a big fan of Motion Corvettes. I did like the KO-MOTION '67 that was there... Vintage drag cars are very cool! I actually saw the car a couple of weeks prior to Corvettes @ Carlisle at a local Corvette show. While I didn't get a chance to talk to the owner, I did check the car out pretty closely. It appears to have been an L-71 (427/435) originally with factory installed side exhaust... It had been converted externally with the Motion body work... Red with the Motion style silver stripe although I'm not sure if this was the original color combination when it was sold. I am told that the current owner has had the car for quite some time and knew about its history before he purchased it. Regards, Stan |
Re: KoMOTION
Just saw where Ertl will be making a 1/18 diecast of this car and the Motion A/MP '70 Camaro as well.
