Something Nice

Re: Something Nice
I still have the original magazine that I bought in '69 at about the same time as I bought my COPO Chevelle. One look and the article and it was obvious that Yenko wastaking COPO cars and adding the Stripe and decal package. I think they were still claiming to be building the whole package. I think that this about the only write up on these Chevelles.

Re: Something Nice
One thing that is interesting about the under hood picture is that there are no 427 or HP decals on the air filter lid.

Re: Something Nice
I don't think that there was a Turbo Jet 450 HP sticker available yet at that time. They wouldnt want a 425 HP sticker on the air cleaner if they were advertising 450 HP. The thing that I first noticed in this magazine was the plain hubcap on the Yenko Nova in the ad. I know that it doed not mean much since it is just a artists rendering. Interesting though.

Re: Something Nice
The 450 hp sticker was available as it was actually used on early 1966 L-72 Corvettes. Later in the '66 model year it was changed to 425 hp. The 450 hp sticker was later resurected for the '70 LS-6 Chevelles.

Re: Something Nice
One thing I have always thought was interesting about that artice is that it mentions they were expecting to test an a/c car, but it was sold. I have always wondered if it was just a simple "misunderstanding" on the part of SS&DI, or if Yenko was indeed installing a/c on some of the L-72 cars...?
