World Camaro Assoc
I'm sitting on the fence regarding attending
(and judging) at June 14-18 Columbus,OH Camaro Natls. Are you attending?...Do you even know about the show? (didn't think so), Please email me with your thoughts....Chuck Sharin Renton(Seattle)[email protected] World Camaro Assoc at "CamaroClub.com" |
Re: World Camaro Assoc
It sounds as if the club is trying very hard to get some good cars at the event. I have heard of a few Yenko's COPO's and a ZL1 to attend. They have just merged with Classic Chevy International and have had a big boost in operating capital from them. I think that all Camaro fans should try and attend to get this thing off and running strong. Lets have some fun.

Re: World Camaro Assoc
I, too, was "sitting on the fence". After being "burned" more than once by the "Club", I waswatching the new organization. 4 guys
who sounded like true enthusiasts not expecting a comfortable livelihood but purely interested in Camaros and this thing might have a chance. I see now it's part of another organization, owned by the former management's family. A return to the past? I attended several of the former club's conventions both as a spectator and participant. I always felt the promoters were always more interested in making a buck than in the cars and people. The judging had no continuous guidelines and was a "sort of" concours with no attention paid to what should be correct. Sorry, but that's my take. |
Re: World Camaro Assoc

Re: World Camaro Assoc
I just got back from a swap meet in Ohio this weekend helping out a friend with his Camaro parts tent. I heard a lot about the Columbus Camaro show. I sounds as if a great deal of really neat cars are planning to show up at the event. If you can make the meet it would be a big shot in the arm for the club. I know that some people are upset about the past, but that is the past. If you do not attend the club will suffer and may not make it another year. The changes that need to be made are only done by supporting the club, it's that simple. If you complain and don't belong nothing will happen to make it better. I plan on giving it another try. Where else will you get the chance to show your Camaro off to the people that really love them? If you don't like judging, just display the car. That is what I plan on doing. What is your take on the matter?

Re: World Camaro Assoc
Brian; I agree, that we need to support the WCA, at least give them a second chance. I am making plans to attend. I hope to have a display of Yenko memorabilia and to have my Yenko Camaro on display as well, but like you, non-judged. In addition, they have asked if some of us who are involved with the "supercars" would be willing to do a seminar on our hobby. I think that this would be a great opportunity for us to address numerous issues related to the supercars, including "fakes", supercar shows, documenting the cars, etc. I plan on taking advantage of this opportunity and hope that you will join me as one of the speakers. Anyone that is truly interested in the supercars should attend. Here is our chance to educate people about our hobby and what we are about. Tom

Re: World Camaro Assoc
I know my first response was harsh but when I saw that the club had merged with the '55-'57 group I thought it could be a return to the old club. This remains to be seen. I too hope that it works out better as presently there is a void for Camaro enthusiasts and a national club is needed. To me it's amazing when compared to the other marques and their availability of clubs, shows and other activities the popular Camaro has little. I've always thought the mopar guys did it the best with their activities. Tom's show really looks first rate but quite a tow for me. The Chevys on the Concourse at Indy Super Chevy a few years ago was fun. I think the non-judged display sounds good and I'm considering it. Anyone for a supercar display? I think for alot of people giving the club a second chance, it will be more of a last chance as there have been several questionable lapses and business practices. Like I said before, I hope the club becomes motivated toward the Camaro enthusiast and in turn I think there are many who will respond. It would be good to hear from more people as I expected my prior post to rattle more cages. Let's hear from everybody..... who's going? Maybe some of the club guys need to come here and tell everyone what's going on as well as the guys at CRG and other Camaro venues. Like to hear some debate.

Talked one guy into coming up from Texas with a Berger car. Look forward to seeing you there. Will also be at the Camaros at Carlisle too. That promises to be a good event. We have to support both groups as we don't have any worth while national events! Spoke with Ian Johnston today of WCA based in Orlando,FL. Told me two ZL-1's would attend Columbus, one of them being Larry Christianson from Denver. Mentioned several Yenkos were expected. Also said over one dozen cars had applied to be Diamond certified. I'll be there on Thursday noon!!!
