65 Vettus Resurrectus

Greetings fellow Yenkonians!
Yes, I’ve been quiet as of late. Lots going on with parents, Alzheimer’s, Assited Living and Memory Care. But, I’m hoping things start calming down and as Woj would say, the nuclear fission resumes for me! There’s been a few changes in the hangar, and this just fell in my lap from a fellow instructor that wanted to sell it for his dad. Being the entrepreneurial bid nit man that I am, I swooped in snagged it up! His dad was under the impression (and how it was advertised over 25yrs ago) as a real Fuelie 65 Coupe. I bought it for what it was, it for what I thought it was supposed to be. It’s not the original driveline with a 70 350, a 65 transmission from who knows what, and a 63 4.11 rear. Lots of new parts and an amateur resto done on it. Paint is…meh….some issues, but it isn’t overly bad. I don’t think it knows what it wants to be when it grows up: 65 coupe, 66 seat covers, 67 bolt on knock offs.:confused2: But lots new: suspension, rear control arms, interior, etc. so what’s one to do with this? Well, glad you asked!:scholar: Attachment 301752 Attachment 301753 Attachment 301754 Attachment 301755 Attachment 301756 Attachment 301757 Attachment 301758 I’m planning a 5spd swap, add AC, fuel injection, gold lines with caps and possible change the interior to Saddle. And it begins today!:burnout: So stay tuned, more to come!! Cheers:beers: Dave |

Are you looking at Tremec 5 speeds?
They have close ratio or wide ratio and three overdrive ratios, .81, or .72 or .68 (the .68 overdrive sounds like too much unless you have tiny tires or super high (numerical) rear gears. Great build!! Ryan W31 |
Thanks guys! Yes Ryan, it’s the Silver Sport conversion, Tremec. More updates this week!
I do need to lower the rear ride height. Can that be done on C2s or is it a case of a new rear spring. I don’t want to remove leaves. Cheers Dave |
Dave…that’s typically accomplished by way of a longer leaf spring bolt on each of the outer ends. If you go too long the bolt might foul the tire. You might get away with the spring bolts that are in there if there’s enough thread left to turn them out. There’s a good picture of the long bolts on page 4, post #36 on my build thread. Hope that helps. W

Are you going to be using the TKX transmission? It's very popular and the easiest to swap in place of a Muncie. My buddy Jody Haag (Jody's Transmissions) in PA sells the kits with his custom made shifters.
