Hellcat Track Day at Milan 10/29/25...Late Model Car Performance

October 29 was the last day for Test and Tune at Milan (Darana) Dragway so on a whim I decided to take my '15 A8 Hellcat since the temp and DA were good. Threw the Mickey Thompson ET Street R's on and make the 28 mile trip to the track. Got 24 MPG on the way doing 80 lol. Arrived and aired the tires and hit the staging lanes. My car is not tuned or have a smaller blower pulley, just the basic things needed ('18 Demon driveshaft, diff brace, drag radials.) Stock exhaust with cats. Has a JLT "cold air" that does nothing for performance (would have gone a tenth quicker with the efficient stock air box.) Right off the street went 10.73 @130.25. Scaled the car and race weight was #4720 with 3/4 tank of Kroger 93 octane gas with me in it, lol. #4450 empty. Tank! I thought the MPH was strong for a stock motored car. As a reference point a pulley/tuned/injector Redeye Charger with a high end rear suspension set up was trapping 132. Had a 10.50/10.60 in her but the track surface was degrading and I was not able to replicate or better that time but I left happy anyway. Aired the tires and made the trek back home in the very comfortable bucket seat with the 18 speaker Harmon Kardon audio going. No muss, no fuss. This too easy...

The point of my post is it still boggles my mind how great the new muscle is. Hellcats, Mustangs, 'Vettes, Camaro's etc. I love my old iron I have but the new stuff is something else. If you aren't a fan of the new stuff drive one. It'll make a believer out of you!

WOW! Very cool.

I do have to admit, I'm very much enjoying my new Silverado... maybe I'll look at a new car...

Cheers all,
Anthony

Wow, that’s impressive. 10.70’s right off the highway (4720 lbs.!) & in my experience the 2nd pass is always roughly 2/tenths faster. I have several friends that have sold their old Musclecars and stepped into similar Challengers/Chargers with no regrets. Maybe I’m missing the train here . . . . .

By no means am I saying the new stuff is a replacement for the old iron but it's nice to have something modern that does everything so well. The ideal situation IMO is to have both if possible. When nostalgia sets in drive the old car. When you want convenience and all the amenities that the newer muscle have to offer, drive that.

It's nice to have choices.
