This 1957 Chevrolet 283 V8 with 270hp WCFB Dual Quads was rebuilt with a Duntov 097 camshaft, .30 domed pistons and solid lifters. As the GM casting #3731548 indicates this is a 1957 Chevrolet 283 V8 small block engine, specifically designed for the 150 and 210 models of the Bel Air series. As the casing date #12856 indicates it was built early on December 8th, 1956. The engine pad stamp #T1012F indicates it was assembled in Tonawanda on October 12th, 1957 as an 8-cylinder with a powerglide transmission. It was outfitted with a period correct 270hp WCFB Dual Quad setup with GM casting #3739653 and firing order #18436572. The carburetors have the correct #0-1049 and #6-1299 numbers along with #2613/2614 gold tags. It's equipped with a period correct Delco Remy dual point distributor model #1110891 with #6F23 date which indicates model year 1956, Radio GM black wires, AC Delco #R45S spark plugs and Delco Remy generator. It's also equipped with a period correct AC Delco #4346 fuel pump with glass bowl. Some other features include original painted Chevrolet valve covers, oil cap, dip stick and fan blade. Another bonus includes a set of correct 1957 exhaust manifolds with LH GM casting #3733975 and RH GM casting #3733976. Upon completion this engine was run on a test stand but has never been installed in a vehicle since the rebuild. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased this engine from NCRS member Lyle Davidson of Davidson Restorations in February of 2025. Since it was purchased it was placed on a black engine stand and on display. The original intentions were to put this in a classic vehicle but that never happened. MS CLASSIC CARS decided to list it for sale for the first time in October of 2025. This is a great opportunity to purchase a desirable engine with many additional period correct parts. MS CLASSIC CARS will assist the new owner with crating and shipping freight anywhere in the lower 48 United States.
