69 Camaro Fender Shims Silver Zinc or Black Manganese?

I have conflicting information about this. Does anyone have a Norwood survivor car they can check to see if the front fender shims at the A Pillar are plated silver zinc/CAD or black manganese?

Thanks,

Jim

I thought I read that they were natural, but I can't find where I read that. I'll see if I can find that...Joe

Does the Camaro Nationals LEGENDS 1st Gen Judging Manual call out this point ????

No, re Legends. I checked the Second Edition Manual.

My experience is silver zinc

My experience is virtually all were black.

I had a bag full of them, scavenged from parts cars many years ago. Mostly 69s built at Norwood.

It was common to see more than one type of acceptable plating listed on an engineering drawing.

sure look like phosphate or bare steel - i would think these are phosphate

From the many original cars I've observed during Vintage Certification as well as having my own car through Legends Concours judging in 2024, the A pillar shims should be black (manganese) phosphate.
