The reason for flat spoke Cragar S/S wheels
|
Nice story, the flat spokes look like crap!
|
That excuse sounds very strange but ok. My first thought was, how much does this "mold" actually cost to produce and if the majority of their customer base likes and wants the rounded face (me included), why not just write it off and produce what is being asked. My totally novice brain is telling me and I am guessing around $100,000 for a new mold? Peanuts in the grand scheme of things. They could still keep the flat mold and continue to produce them as well so not loss.

There's 10s of thousands waiting for the round spoke direct drill cragars to appear, even as a second set to rotate. Most of those/us won't buy the flat stuff. I already have 2 sets of the flat versions that I'd replace, so probably a buyer of 12 new wheels.....waiting.

Cragars...
I agree...the old school style would really sell. Just posted in the Parts Wanted section...looking for some old style 15 inch Cragars.

Come up with any story you want but it’s not what was originally produced nor is it what people really want. So, do it right and make a fistful of $$ selling what is really wanted..

Very interesting story I love cragars but I have an unheated garage and the crater chrome pimples up fast …..

If anybody is attending the SEMA show coming up in Las Vegas you can talk to the owners of Cragar at the show. I told them a couple of years ago they needed to start making the narrow ones again, they had not been available for a while and they started producing them again. Not sure if my input helped but I thought it was worth at try. I also told them there would be a market for Keystone Classic front runners but didn't get much of a response.

Really liked the Kustomags, the version with the spokes meeting the rim. The Klassics just don't look the same, the look that Sox and Martin helped make popular.
