61 Fuelie Vette, erased from existence

Rolling/running chassis for sale, because they made a restomod out of the car.

You can see the VIN stamp on the engine in one of the pics if you blow it up. A quick Google search, and here is the car -- https://www.barrett-jackson.com/scot...ertible-261587

Sold at Barret Jackson in 2023 for $110K. Represented as a number matching original drivetrain car. Looks like the fuelie suffix code too.

The chassis is for sale for $17.5K. So that's $92.5K (plus fees) for a body and interior.

Why in hell would someone do this? It would take 15 minutes on Google to find a run-of-the-mill Low HP 61 Vette with a good body to build a resto mod out of, for a whole lot less than $92.5K. Unbelievable.

And I know of the seller. He certainly should know better as well. Unless the client was hell bent on THAT car?

Restomods have saved lots of Corvettes from the grave, but they have ruined others. I guess the thing to do is restore the chassis and engine for a display to at least preserve those components.

why couldn't you put it under a 59-61 project NOM car that needs it? Did they have a hidden vin on the frame back then?

They have the VIN on the frame and engine, so that would be a conflict. It would be a good use for the frame and engine, though.
