I remember reading about “Casper”.
Pretty cool that Dick Arons beat Ronnie Sox in Super Stock.
I would imagine that win was a big deal!

Now how about this. Zora Arkus Duntov testing manifolds with the Yuill Brothers team in Michigan 1979. What a day that would have been!

Of course Chevrolet wasn’t officially involved right? ^^^^^

Here is a short summary of a Camaro I’ve known a long time. Staged with the tower evolution photos at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Original owner was Wayne Henderson of Indy. It’s a Le Mans blue trim tag. Still has some blue in the trunk jam chips.
Wayne got one of the first SRD chassis kits developed for the Camaro and built it into a Super Modified class racer. The red and white paint scheme was done in the late 70s.

Wayne sold it as a roller to my high school buddy Joe and it became kinda a team car to my red and white 67 and we went bracket racing with a big block and powerglide. Small block 5 speed went elsewhere.

We raced it into the mid 80s then Joe sold it.

In around 2018 my brother saw it in central Ohio AutoRV trader for sale and made an impulse buy to bring it back home.

Hardly anything had changed on it in over 30 years. Same block, heads, intake. Same interior and controls except for some modern bracket stuff added. Same paint. Same wheels. It’s been a great family and friends bonding tool taking it out and relieving the glory days.

Wayne runs a successful rear gear race business today and by total chance met up with his old car at the track in June 2025 for some nostalgic moments.
