There were two Cherokee show Camaros built. The one at the NY Auto Show had a red interior and a 4-speed transmission. The second one was built after the NY Auto Show happened and had a black interior and an automatic transmission. The one shown at MCACN was the second one. The whereabouts of the first one is not known.

I didn't know that there were two built.

The 1967 NY Auto Show dates were April 1st through April 9th. The VIN and trim tag for the Cherokee in the MCACN video show a car built 06B, second week of June. The red-on-red show car has custom made form-fitting boot to cover the top and the 2nd car does not. The car owner says the top and interior of the second car are the originals. The recessed quick fill gas cap on the original show car is slightly larger and opens in the opposite direction of the later car. Not a simple swap to flip it since the latch for the cap fit into a recess made for that specific orientation. Definitely two separate cars built but no known explanation for why. ----It seems to me that I have seen a pic of one of the 2 that showed the car with Dayton wire wheels. Anybody out there that can confirm or not confirm this???....Bill S

The wire wheels are what were on the red show car as seen in the color picture I posted above. I think they were going for a little bit of a Ferrari look with that choice of wheel.

The second Cherokee had wheels that were patterned like the Chaparral race cars of that era but with a chrome cap in the middle. I have seen pics of the 2nd Cherokee in 1968 with stock rally wheels on it. Don't think I have seen it back in the day with the Corvette style knock-off type wheels.
