Hemmings Muscle Machines ceasing publication

I just received my January '25 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines and included was a letter stating that the February '25 issue will be the last issue published. In its place, they will serve the remainder of my subscription with Hemmings Motor News. I've been a subscriber for most of its 20 years of existence so I was disappointed to see this. They have been doing more modified stuff recently, but they still had some good content. I do like reading stuff online and on social media, but that's not the same as a physical magazine.

Ditto here. I've subscribed since Day 1, but the writing's on the wall for all print publications. I totally agree that a physical printed issue of whatever (I still subscribe to a daily newspaper too) is preferable to the digital version.

I haven't received my Jan issue yet and I don't know when my subscription runs out. Did they give the option to refund the rest, if I don't want the motor news ? If I had wanted that, I would have a sub for it already.

In 1984 I moved to Danville, Ky. for employment opportunity. I helped build a R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co. magazine printing facility. One year later I started working for them as an Electrical Contractor installing Priniting and Binding machinery for a 30 year run until I retired.
At one time they employed 1,500 people, the largest employer in the county. Tomorrow they will close the doors, probably for good. On Line available Subscriptions have killed paper printing world wide. Some of the most advanced printing equipment in the world is setting idle in that plant and no market to sell it. Some of it has already been sold for scrap iron.
A lot of good people I know have lost their jobs. I guess time changes most everything and we have to roll with the punches and move on!

I prefer the paper copies as well. I look at the digital versions one time and never open them again and seldom read any of it. The paper copy lays by my chair for a couple days until I have completely read it and then it goes in my bookshelf for future reference. I am sure an advertiser gets more bang for their buck in a paper copy than digital. Everything changes!

Yes, they gave the option for a refund of my remaining subscription. I will probably ask for that since I just renewed my subscription a month or so ago.

I too have been a subscriber from day 1. I think HMN was about the last one if not the last US muscle car magazine left on the stand. I am like most of the rest of you, I would rather hold a paper copy than have to look at it on line. Fortunately we got one last feature article in before they closed their doors but had hoped for just one more. I can remember rushing to the book store waiting for them to open to pick up my latest addition as a young man. No more. Oh well, at least the thumb drive copies of the on line magazine subscriptions will not take up nearly as much room as my 4000 magazine collection I currently have.

When I was at MCACN a few days ago, a couple of guys riding in the Doubletree elevator with me said they were in town for a printing convention. I was thinking to myself, do they even have those anymore? I do appreciate real magazines and newspapers but they are definitely nearing their end.

If you don’t like HMM stopping paper copies, put your money where your mouth is and subscribe to Bone Stock and Modified Muscle Cars

Great magazine!!! Great editor!!!

They are making the content you want and all you need to do is subscribe.

I have been a subscriber to Hemmings Motor News since the late 1970s, so they will just extend my subscription to that (until they pull the plug on that too) in lieu of a refund. I also subscribe to Hemmings Classic Car....wonder if that's next on the chopping block?
