Can anyone recommend a garage floor coating? Process
 

Hi all,

With the amount of accumulated experience visiting this page I figured this is a great place to ask. I am planning to coat my 2 car garage floor sometime this fall and have read many stories of DIY failures for this project but not too many of success. Can anyone recommend a good coating or share any application tips? Unless anyone tells me otherwise, I plan to grind the floor first instead of acid wash. There is regular paint on it now that has been trying to kill us for the last 2 years - slippery when wet... Don't really care about the cost I just want to do it right. Has anyone done this and is happy with the results? Thanks in advance. Tom

I used U-coat-it. It's been on for about 12 years. It was new concrete. I just followed the instructions. I've never had a sealed floor so I have nothing to compare it too. It's easy to clean but it will stain if something is left there for too long. I have a stain under my s10 blazer from an oil leak. I'm sure there are better products today & I'm sure there are worse. Overall, I do like the product. It's nice not having to use a creaper. Here's a link....Joe

I also used the ucoat it system getting close to 20 years now. Also the concrete was a couple of years old at the time but very clean. It's a process but well worth it. At that time it was much better than those store bought paints.

Very happy with it but I did notice also if certain fluids are left there for awhile it will stain like Differential fluid for example.

It came with design flakes and traction material so you can control the way it looks and feels.

Well worth it at that time it has taken abuse and gas spills. No regrets. Like mentioned above 20 years later if I did it again I would see what other options are out there.

Just having it ground and polished is a option.

Hate u coat it tires lift it ,mine on new concrete about 5 yrs.
