1967 corvette 435hp 427 block found

I have a 1967 435hp 427 tri power block with a partial vin 7100740. I googled the partial vin and it comes up as a car being sold at Barrett Jackson in 2012. I’d like to reunite the block with the proper car.

Cool.

Odd it does not show up as registered anywhere in the NMTIS from the consumer side.
Elkhart blue convertible, and was used in the movie Con Air according to Barrett Jackson. |
Con Air! That must have a negative hit on value. :)

Wow, what an epic reunion that would be! If I was the owner I'd be on my way to Steve's house already. Car sold for 121k in 2012, can't imagine what it would be worth with the original engine?
I tried reuniting a 69 L78 Chevelle owner with his original block back in 2017 and he didn't want it since it had been bored to a 427 so a buddy of mine ended up making a coffee table out of it for his shop. |
Dare I mention the elephant in the room here.... What if the Corvette in question has, in the past, been presented, and sold, as "Matching Numbers"?? Ruh-Roh!!

In this day and age "matching numbers" doesn't necessarily mean "born with". A restamped block in a 'vette, doesn't seem to be a big issue to many and on a legal point, the current block in the car does have "matching numbers"...:dunno:
