Blast from the past!

Just Sharing: On one of my many California trips while editor of CARS Magazine in the 1960s, (probably before my Baldwin-Motion days, met with legendary Bonneville and drag racing pioneer and engine builder, Bob Joehnck, had a speed shop in Santa Barbara. Made his "bones" first with Flatheads, then small-block Chevys. After returning, found envelope from him containing this Joehnck Compe-Lator circular slide rule, figures top speed, engine rpm, gear ratios and tire diameter combinations for maximum performance. Still in its original leather case, never used, as new. He built and drove some serious machinery, starting in the 1940s. Great memorabilia.
