Cragar S/S

Does anybody know the time frame for the Cragar S/S change to the newer design?

Thanks

Don't quote me as it's tough to keep up with wheel manufacturers being sold and them swapping over to Chinese manufacturing, but I think Cragar started making the offshore wheels with the flat spokes around 2008 or 09. I think they now call them 61 series and they are nothing like the old ones.

Can spot them a mile away.

In direct contrast, I personally can't tell the difference. To most people, a Cragar S/S is a Cragar S/S

I agree…the round spokes are much better looking!

It's like the FedEx logo. Once you realize there's an arrow in it...you'll never un-see it.

In comparison, once you see the difference between an original round spoke, and the Chinese flat spoke, you'll never un-see it. :naughty:

Not quite as easy to spot when they are in use. In 15 years of driving this one, nobody ever asked if I was running flat spoke or round spoke. The only comments were about the skinny front wheels and how "I used to have the same wheels on my car"... These are round spoke . The fronts were stamped 1969 "Firestone".

Yea, I think we would all agree that the originals look a lot better but the originals in good shape are really really hard to find. And if you find them they are going to be big bucks...I have been looking and now have a new flat design set on order... Flat is better than nothing....Just one opinion...

I prefer in older round spokes. I purchased a pair of NOS 14" wheels, but have now decided on 15" wheels. Finding 15" wheels are difficult nice ones are near impossible.

I have multiple sets of mint redone round spoke 4” ones if anyone is interested. They are high but don’t get any better if you’re looking for the best, old school look. Flat spokes do stick out to many, but not all.
