1995 Lexus LS 400...

This is not a supercar, but it is a classic style. One of our neighbors, an older man with some serious medical issues, asked me to help him with selling this car. He bought it new [$51,000]...black, leather interior with all the usual stuff. High mileage, mostly business travel back in the day [212,000]. Always garaged and maintained...he has a binder about 4 inches thick. Every service or repair since day one.

I drove it in our neighborhood...starts fine, brakes and steering seem good.

Asking $4900.

I will try to help answer any questions...trying to help an aging vet.

thanks, wilma

Lexus....

I did some homework on the value...hard to find a comparable. Do you guys think the price is ok??

Hopefully someone can use it...I'm half tempted to buy it myself.

Thanks..

My mid 20’s sons are into these so I forwarded it to them as they have been looking at these. The motors in these are unbelievable, and as noted will run well past 300k. Similar motor is in my tundra.
Anyhow, they said price is on high side fwiw.

I have a buddy who drove his to 500,000 highway miles. Traded it on a new one. He asked how much they would give him for the trade. They said you can leave it here if you want to. Earl

Have not kept up with prices, so I have no idea what nice examples like that bring. As stated, virtually no way to get a comp, as most have been taken out of service.

10 years ago, a fellow I office with had a high mileage 96 model. We needed a first car for our then 17 year old.

He was trading it in on a new car. They were giving him $1700, so he offered it to me for that amount. Ended up getting something else with a bit more cool factor, an 85 BMW 535iS. Wouldn't you know it, the bimmer got rear ended.

FWIW: I sold my daughters 2001 GS300 w/107 mi for 4,200 about a year ago. I sold my 2001 GS400 w/73k miles for $5,500 (friend price).

Brings back memories. My older brother's father in law sold him one of these Lexus'es because he didn't need it any more (extra car, high mileage). I think the price was just $500 - just so he could show something on paper because his business owned it. Anyway, one winter day, the car hits an ice patch and slides into a tree. Not a lot of major damage but the insurance company totalled it nonetheless. They paid out around $7,000 to my brother.

His father in law, who had a great sense of humor, comments to him afterwards: "If I had known it was worth that much, I would have driven it into a tree myself!"
