Any Tonawanda Engine Plant employees here?
 

I went to an estate sale of a former Tonawanda Engine plant employee, and all I got to say is some crazy stuff must happen there. It looked like this guy never left the factory empty handed for over 40 years. What are you going to do with all that stuff? It sold for pennies on the dollar. So many tools, bits, taps mills, supplies. How much stuff do you need to walk out with to even the score?

No wonder cars COST so much, LOL

I grew up in Anderson, IN. People either worked at Delco Remy or Guide Lamp. You could always tell which place they work at by going into their garage. It was either a shelve full of alternators or a shelve full of taillamps.

There is an old tale around here about someone walking off with a complete all aluminum 1969 ZL-1 427 engine. The story says it was a fully functional engine that was used as a display in the front office area of the plant. One day it just turned up missing...

I can tell you for a fact that I used to call on Tonawanda Engine Plant in 1980 - 1983 and there was a complete ZL-1 in the lobby right across from the receptionist. Must have seen it 50 times in those three years.

Sad - always some bad apples - at the foundry even the silver solder in the pattern shop had to be locked down.

Holy smokes - looks like he was trying to corner the market on adjustable wrenches and channellocks!

I rebuild horns for a GM engineer he said there was a half crazy guy in casting that would make sand models of workers he didn't like and smash them when they walked by. He also told me that raw casting were fork lifted outside into the snow to cool and store and some where not found until spring.
