5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Recent site discussions prompted me to dig this out of the parts locker. I have an original 5 blade Chevy fan, same look and design as the rare one, except for the "W".
Blades have the same rivet pattern, bolt pattern is correct and it has been cleaned and painted...ready to bolt on. $300 plus shipping 518-821-6406 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...113731146n.jpg |
Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Tom from what I understand not all the original Nova BB fans had the W. So your fan above could have been factory installed on a BB nova.

Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
I had a 12,000 mile all original l78 that did not have the "w" on the fan. I also had a nos one that did not have the "w" in the original box from gm.

Some BB Nova's did not use a fan clutch? Learn something every day

Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Hi Tom
Which hole pattern is that? '68 uses the small bolt pattern as in the '68 short water pump '69-'70 use the larger. Can't quite make it out. Thanks Joe. |
Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Tim...the BB was available in the Nova for 3 years [68-70]. The first year there was a 5 blade fan with a clutch...also a short water pump which provided the room for the larger setup. 69 & 70 cars had the long water pump and both L-34 and L78 used a 5 blade offset pattern fan which bolted directly to the water pump...NO SPACER.
The fan for sale did not come off a BB car...I believe it was from an earlier Chevy 2 or Chevelle...possibly with a/c. When I restored this fan the bolt pattern was modified slightly to match the correct BB configuration. All other aspects of the fan are identical to an original BB unit except for the 'w'. *an original 68 BB fan and clutch typically fetch big money. I have never seen a factory BB fan that did not have the 'w'...and that includes service replacement units as well. This piece is very nice...no pitting or dents...it will work very well for someone who can live without the 'w'. **I sold another one of these a few years back which was restored the same way...it did have the 'w' It sold for a little more money, but a lot less than the coveted factory unit. -wilma |

Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Was the factory tan and clutch on a 68 l78 the same as a 67-68 z and l78 with the 3.25" bolt spacing and the Schweitzer clutch?

Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Some others can chime in on this...but, I believe the fan was the same, but there have been discussions on this in the past...some folks said there was difference

Re: 5 Blade BB Nova Fan...
Maybe it was all the same except with a 3" bolt pattern?
