Vintage Hurst Loc /Out
does anyone have the installation instructions for a vintage Hurst reverse Loc/Out...the style that mounts between the shifter body and mounting plate..
i have one and if i tighten the upper shifter mounting bolt tight..it will not allow you to move the lever up or down ..if i back it off a couple turns all works well...so what would keep this from backing out and loosening?...wondering what the trick is here...thank you |

Sort of on topic..... Al (Alss) Galdi had a fascinating video that he posted on Facebook that showed how each locking nut/washer faired wrt to untightening when exposed to vibration. Hey Al, can you post that to school all us ignorant dudes?!

I believe that is it . Certainly dispelled some of my conceptions!

Re: Vintage Hurst Loc /Out
Jamb nuts and silicon. Set first nut where it moves freely, then mark it. Back it off and put some silicon on threads, move first nut into where it moves freely, then jamb the second tightly against the first. The silicon on the threads asks like a rubberize loc-tight and usually keeps that type of parts from coming free.
Hope this helps, John |
