D-Day...

I just got back from NAPA...as I signed a check the date hit me...June 6th!

So, please take a moment to remember all those brave folks who were part of the Invasion of Normandy 72 years ago.

Lest we forget

One of my best Florida fishing buddies landed at Normandy. He died last year at 90. RIP - Heroes all!

Re: D-Day...

Very Tough Indeed!
The sheer numbers of troops, sailors, Johnson boats, ships and logistics is just staggering.

The NCDU ( Naval Combat Demolition Unit)predecessor of the UDT and todays SEAL teams had losses up to 52% armed only with 20 2lb haversacks of explosives and a dive knife each, they came ashore before the assault to clear the obstacles for the landing crafts.

We have a long time family friend (who is still with us today ) who jumped in and fought with the 506th Parachute regiment and spent the next few weeks living off the land scrounging enemy weapons and ammo off fallen soldiers to keep fighting - the stories and heroics of these men are still riveting still to this day all these years later.- may we never forget the sacrifice of the thousands and thousands of our troops buried on foreign shores.
