Carb gaskets

I picked up a bad batch of gas last year. Next time I went to start the car, the Holley leaked *everywhere*. It would slowly stop as the gaskets swelled, but ugh...
Is there any gaskets sets that are more resistant to the ethanol (I assume that was the cause) or can this happen again after the rebuild?
Thanks!

Re: Carb gaskets

I would PM Eric Jackson and/or call Holley direct.
Holley: 1-866-464-6553

Re: Carb gaskets

Eric is your man -- but I would suggest the "blue" bowl and metering plate gaskets ... not the cork (which shrink over time if not kept wet). TAZ

Two suggestions...find some ethanol free fuel...and call Eric.

Good luck...

Re: Carb gaskets

I have had no problems with the Holley blue gaskets and MN has had ethanol in the fuel for many years. I also use Klotz fuel conditioner every time that I fuel the car and it protects the rubber items in the fuel system.

Re: Carb gaskets

Eric rebuilt my Holley many years ago with the correct cork gaskets and I too run ethanol gas.
I keep the engine moving weekly & so far no leaks..

Yep -- the key is to not let the cork gaskets dry out ... if the fuel evaporates cuz' you're not starting the engine everyweek, the gaskets will leak ... TAZ

Re: Carb gaskets

Thanks! That answers the question. The car sits all winter.
It was interesting that I've had no issues for years, then one tank of gas changed all that.....

Re: Carb gaskets

Kurt the Green accelerator pumps are way better than the old type and either Blue or Red non stick gaskets are the best.
