1966 Chevy Impala (SOLD)
<span style="font-weight: bold">Car is sold</span>.
I have decided to sell my cross-country '66 Impala. Here is the link to the Epic Road Trip; https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthrea...d-tr#Post621588 https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg This Impala is well sorted out and ready to drive anywhere. From what I have learned, it was purchased new at Luby Chevrolet in Baltimore, MD on April 16, 1966. The first owners kept it until 1996 after accumulating 87000 miles. The next owner bought it from the children of the original owners (who were not interested in that old car) and drove it only 3000 miles from 1996 until 2015. I bought it in August 2015 and drove it from Maryland to Arizona, averaging 19 MPG. It runs great and has been very reliable in the 6000+ miles I have driven it. Currently has 97000+ miles. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg Features the original 283/195 2 BBL engine and Powerglide transmission. To the best of my knowledge, they are the born-with components and have never been out of the car. The only options are AM push button radio, which works, and power steering. Almost everything works, including the COLD light. The clock and the windshield washer pump do not function. The protecto-plate, original owner's manual, and accessory manual are included. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg Some time ago, it was repainted the original color of Madeira Maroon in single stage enamel. The black bench seat interior is original to the car and in great shape for being 50 years old. The carpet is not worn, but it does have some stains. The package shelf is warped. The headliner has no rips or tears. Upholstery is mostly damage-free and the dash top is in great shape. The trim is in great shape too. The previous owner replaced the radiator, along with the belts and hoses. The brake system was overhauled with new shoes, hardware, and hoses. The tires were replaced for the road trip. I replaced the master cylinder with a correct unit, the heater core, and the oil sending switch. Many original parts are included with the sale, including the original radiator, shroud, heater core, hub caps, and ignition coil. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...0126%29-X2.jpg This Impala is no show winner. The paint is faded and there appears to be some previous rust repair in the typical areas of each quarter panel and each front fender. The doors look solid as do the floors. The trunk floor has some surface rust and some rust through next to the wheel wells. There are dents on the left front fender, back of the left quarter panel, and near the wheel well on the right quarter panel. The original owners probably made occasional contact with the two-car garage it was parked in. The rear window was previouisly removed and resealed. I replaced the trunk weatherstrip. Most of the exterior trim is in great shape, including the wing / vent windows. This Impala has a "survivor look" and is ready to be driven anywhere. For a 50 year old car, it runs and drives very well and is quite comfortable sitting in during long trips, and I should know. I am still accumulating miles and enjoying this great Impala. It receives lots of attention at shows and cruises because it looks like a great original car. Currently located in Peoria, AZ. $9500 / offer. super dot sport at cox dot net Many more pictures are here; https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/My-...mpala-Ad-Pics/ If the link works, a video is here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqwNoDzhmmg |

Re: 1966 Chevy Impala
What a neat yet simple car. A great cruiser indeed. Good luck, I'm sure it won't last long.

Great car. GLWS.
What is the new direction that you heading for with your two classics being SOLD? Dan |
Re: 1966 Chevy Impala
Thanks Dan,
My original "opportunity" has come and gone. So for now, I just want to sell one of these and keep the other. If the Chevelle sells, I have major plans for the Impala, and if the Impala sells, there are two minor things I would like to do to the Chevelle. Since I drive the Chevelle so much, I'd like to change the tires and wheels to something a little more "streetable". Nothing wrong with the Polyglas's, but I would enjoy a better combination for cornering. If they both sell, I'll find another opportunity. |
