1969 Camaro X66 L78
I will not be getting to this car anytime soon so here it is. I bought this car from a guy in Knoxville about 6 months ago. He bought it in the mid 1980's and drove it for a few years before putting it in the basement. I was driven very sparingly over the next 25 years. It is an original L78 396/375 car as evidenced by the high redline tach, single fuel line, and notarized letter from the original owner stating the obvious if you know 69 Camaros. The original owner is an animal doctor and still working in Virginia. Quite a bit of the ownership history comes with the car.
The car is a factory Garnet Red with a Black deluxe interior. Somewhere along the line it got houndstooth seats. The guy I got it from partially disassembled the interior so the door panels, headliner and carpet had been removed. Everything was saved except the carpet. The front deluxe door panels are very nice with the exception of a tear at the rear corner of the drivers side where it rubs the windlace. The car was optioned with deluxe interior, spoilers, tach/gauges, rosewood wheel and a console mounted 8 track. All of the wiring for the 8 track is still there and I have the original console door. The engine is not original. It is a MQ coded 396/375 motor from a 1967 Camaro. The born-with M21 4 speed and BU coded rear are still in the car. The car runs and drives (I put about 10 miles on it after I bought it) but the Cooper tires are 1980's vintage. The car is very solid with what appears to be all original sheet metal except the hood. The car had a cowl hood on it when purchased by the previous owner. He liked the looks of the SS hood better so he bought a reproduction hood and had it painted which is why you can see a difference in the paint. It will need a lower trunk pan. The only spot of rust in the floors is the rear passenger side foot well. Some minor pinholes are there. There is the typical rust in the lower corners of the front fenders and a little bubbling in the front corners of the doors. There is a little bubbling over the left rear wheel and a little at the front bottom of the right side quarter panel. The window channels, frame rails, firewall, remainder of floor pans, shock towers, etc are excellent. The black spots you see on the roof is spray paint to cover some chipped areas of paint. No rust in those areas. The car is a D80 (spoilers) car as evidenced by the two different torsion rods for the deck lid. $24K Gregg 760-802-9376 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-p1050021.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-p1050022.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-p1050028.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-p1050029.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-p1050033.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-p1050026.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-p1050038.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-p1050039.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-p1050034.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-p1050037.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-p1050043.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-p1050013.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-p1050032.jpg |

Re: 1969 Camaro X66 L78
Kool Camaro, wouldn't the D80 optional spoilers have been denoted on the trim tag?

Not with an 05A car. |
Re: 1969 Camaro X66 L78
Is it an original cowl hood car?
|
Re: 1969 Camaro X66 L78
No. The cowl hood was added very early in it's life and then removed by the guy I got the car from. The original owner is available to talk to and he confirmed to me it came with the "stacks in the hood".
