Get my NOS Day 2 Tires Like New Again
Any Tips on getting old 1974 NOS tires to look like new again? Just bought them and they need help.

Post a photo. If they are covered in what resembles a white, greasy residue, that is mold release and it can be drawn back into the rubber by simply using a heat gun to remelt the residue.

If its white letters or white walls try wet sanding with 400 with a comet or spray nine liquid.

Team 3 Protectorant works great and also preserves the rubber. The only protectorant on the market that does not have alchohol in it.
Armor Al destroys rubber tires. |

Cool tires! 2nd photo of tire: lettering should clean right up with Bleche Wite or paint thinner or the like. 1st photo may need some touch up as it appears that the white color did not transfer to tops of some of the letters.

Re: Get my NOS Day 2 Tires Like New Again
I have some Ranger Tire paint, and some acrylic white art pens for the touch ups. I may use that. Not sure about using a rubber roller rejuvenation product, like a copy machine? Have heard that but haven't seen anyone try it. Not a huge fan of the "off the shelf" make your tire shine products.

Don't use any paints or white letter paints etc-don't do any sanding etc, rubber roller rejuvenation etc.Youa re going to ruin your tires. I had a set of NOS N50 Pro Tracs from the mid 70's.. Used Westleys Bleche white on the letters with a stiff brush and the tires as well and they came out like new and they looked way worse than yours. I use Team 303 Protectorant as it has no alchohol or petroleum in it that destroys rubber like STP or Armor All. The RV association of America recommends Team 303. Gives a nice even black sheen After Team 303 they look like new. |
