Just looking for some clarification on a few parts...

Cooling fan, were they only equipped with a fixed fan? Or was there an "HD cooling" option with a clutch fan? What would be the correct size, blade count, and part # - if applicable that I need?

The radiator top plate, 3 bolt only? Or was a 4 bolt version used if one ordered HD cooling? Mine is MIA along with several other pieces.

Does anyone have the part # handy for the crank pulley, it would be a single groove for LWP.

Lastly, the air cleaner assembly. I am under the impression that the manual transmission cars like mine has a smooth snorkel with no pod for the heat stove assembly. I believe it should look like this:

The car in my sig was mostly complete in 2007 when my father sold it. I was able to purchase it from the man he sold it to last February - however he had removed the engine & transmission, and lost some of the parts... pulleys, brackets, air cleaner, etc.

I appreciate any help in confirming exactly what I need to put it back together.

Brian, from the photo you have above I'm guessing you have a '69 Chevelle...? Anyway my 1969 Camaro factory AIM book lists the 4-blade fan for the L48 engine (Camaro & Chevelle I assume are identicle) part #3927791--probably interchangeable part (for non-HD cooling/no A/C). The aluminum fan spacer was part #3927792. HD cooling had a 7-blade clutch fan. The AIM has many different part number for both the 7 blade fan & cluth assembly but not sure which ones are correct for your application. Hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks Sal, I do have a Chevelle. Hoping to figure out what I need and possibly have most of the parts laying around. I have a few clutch fans, was hoping to use one. (One less thing to hunt down and purchase)

Got lucky and found a part # for the crankshaft pulley: 3956664 CF

smooth air cleaner snorkel looks good for a 4 speed car. May have been a chrome lid? They were on the SS models for the nova and Camaro with the L48. Not sure about the chevelle though.

I believe chrome lid was Camaro only, maybe Nova? The base measures 15" in diameter from what I can find. If I can't find the correct base, I'll get one from an automatic car and knock the snorkel off. The snorkel on a 70' Chevelle cowl induction air cleaner like looks very similar. (I have a reproduction 70' style ci base I'll never use - perfect donor)

I believe the air cleaner top will be black for this application. The chrome lid was for the SS models only...the Nova and Camaro both had an SS350 option in 1969...I believe all the Chevelle SS cars were big blocks. Smooth snorkel for manual trans/stove pipe and heat valve on auto versions.

That was my thoughts to Tom but not sure. SS chevelles were only BB's and I guess the sb option was Camaro and nova. Yes, the L48 SS nova's top is chrome.

Yes that is the correct part number for the crank pulley.

If you have hd cooling and need a clutch, I probably have one.
