So I guess I'm writing a muscle car book....

Was commissioned to write a book on how high-performance cars were marketed in the 1960-70s. I can tell the difference between a 1968 and 1969 Chevelle, but the marketing efforts are another story, especially since this goes way beyond the usual magazines, brochures, and ads.

I've been working on it for a few months but, surprisingly, I've had some trouble finding Chevrolet information - there's this Sports Dept and Sports Shop that I need to learn more about. I've started a Facebook page so you can join and see some of the items that I've been looking using for research:

If you think you have a special nugget that could be a positive contribution to my efforts, I would love to hear from you - in the end, it's your book as well because my efforts are only as good as my fellow hobbyists'. Thanks!

I have an interesting piece printed in Hong Kong on thin paper from 1968. General Motors marketing Vietnam solders with low prices and information about how to pay for them. There is no pics or color but it must of worked. Dustin

Congrats Diego. Should be fun. I unearthed some neat info on Mopar marketing while researching this article for HMM:

"The Perfect Muscle Car?"

Ooh. Would it be possible to see a photo?

I have a ton of Hurst newsletters targeted to men and women overseas. If you go to the FB page, you can see them.

Dan Jedlicka's long-form article in September 1969 Esquire magazine, "Gaining Respect on Woodward Avenue" is a great piece on musclecar culture and the people who bought them.
