Holley SBC valve covers
 

Question. Looking at Holley finned aluminum valve covers on ebay, says vintage. Part # is 140R-50B. Also says tall, as I would like to use these on my SBC with hyd. roller cam. So, are these "vintage", will they fit my roller cam setup, and although in nice condition (polished) what would be a good price?

This may or not may help -- but I have used the Holley cast rocker boxes on various BBCs. The only issue I have had is the "drippers" had to be removed to clear the rocker arms. TAZ

They were made in the 80'S
. Vintage in this case is on the eye of the beholder. They will clear your valvetrain. As for price, do not pay over one hundred. I bought a set to hang on the wall for dirt cheap at a swap meet.

Here they are, look nice, for my day 2 68 SS Nova. Asking $100, I'll offer $60 and see what happens. Thanks.

Yea, I thought quite nice. Would the old M/T finned valve covers be more correct Day 2 for my 68 Nova? Or suggestions.

Big problem with the covers is both PCV holes knocked out + the oil ..does your car run PCV both VC's? Covers came out late 1970's..I see nice ones at the swaps for $30-50 pair..most people prefer the M/T

Good point. I think I will look for the M/T ones. If too many holes I can run a PCV, oil fill cap, and a breather. Day 2 nobody cared about oil fumes in the air.

Also thinking of a Fly Eye air cleaner, then getting a K&amp;N filter top and cut that to fit under the Fly Eye screen. Figure that will be a safe way to use a Fly Eye.

I have always just assumed MT and Holley valve covers were cast by the same foundry, as they are so similar.

Biggest problem with either is that the pvc and or breather hole is right over a rocker arm with no baffle. If you have good oil pressure, the squirt goes right in the pvc causing some oil consumption.

At one time they were cast by the same Winters Casting that did GM's intake manifolds.
