Trim Tag Special Paint Decode

This trim tag paint number on my 70 LS5 supports the handwritten note at the bottom of the build sheet and the inside of the door clearly shows the original color. My questions are:

Could GM have used a paint code from Ford or Chrysler? The color looks like Grabber Blue or the Richard Petty Blue and I don't remember a GM color like this.

Did Benjamin Moore mix paints for the auto industry and is that what the BM in the paint code relates to?

Carolina Blue is paint code 926-96881. The paint on your door panels looks way different than Carolina Blue to me.

Yea, it's darker and looks like Pettys color to me.

----Isnt it unusual that the backside of the door is so thoroughly painted in color? Usually there is primer in the middle?.....Bill S

The floors are completey coated in the original color. I didn't think that was normal either.

Some plants covered the floor pans more than others. I have seen very little body color overspray to very heavy color though admittedly I have not seen one done quite like the one above but maybe it is because that paint covered heavier than other colors. You need to tear out the complete interior and see how the entire inside was painted including primers. If you send me photos I will take a look at it and see if it looks similar to what I normally see.

What does the hand written note say?

Same paint code as the trim tag.

Highly likely it was a "special ask" by the original buyer. There's a Plum Crazy purple 442 and Chevelle out there, remember. Cool car!
