Reproduction window sticker fail!
 

Ordered a reproduction window sticker for my L78 Nova. Filled out the online form for Triple A Enterprises, sent them copies of my buildsheet and copy of the NCRS docs showing delivery dealer, paid the $50. Their website says it takes 4-6 weeks.

Waited 2 1/2 months and finally it arrives. Its WRONG! Missing the L78 option! The only reason I bought the car!Also, missing the U29 option, which I understand is underdash courtesy lights.

Anyway, just fired off an email and they responded saying they'd look into it and correct any mistakes.

Anyone else deal with these guys?

Triple A has been the "go to" window sticker company for probably 25 years. However, the owner of Triple A has had some recent health issues (stroke or something) and will be out of commision for a while.

Attempts to keep the enterprise going have been less than successful (ie, full of errors) as you have found.

I learned this through Jim Mattison at Pontiac Historic Services (PHS), which has discontinued their window sticker service with Triple A until the situation is resolved.

In 2009 when I ordered mine from Triple-A I was also un happy with what they sent me. My car is a vinyl roof car and should not have the First paint code doubled up as it has a vinyl roof so it should read only one 19 code for tuxedo black.
I also was not pleased with the color, spacing and fonts so I did my own window sticker myself using Photoshop right on my own computer.
The results are fantastic. It did take me a lot of time though to make myself. I bought the double sided tape at the dollar store and bingo the Window Sticker looks awesome on my quarter window. I stuck it on in 2009 and the natural patina of that 5 year old repro fools everyone. If you compare mine to an original window sticker it is hard to see the difference.

I see no use for a &quot;reproduction&quot; window sticker for any car. If someone <span style="font-weight: bold">gave</span> me one for my car I would shred it.
No personal attacke intended, as I don't believe any of the folks that have posted in this thread so far have any malice intended.
But really.... you know these things get used and abused to &quot;authenticate&quot; a car. You aren't going to live forever.
There is ALWAYS the possibility that someone down the line misrepresents it as original documentation.
I already know all of the arguments coming from the other side of this, so not trying to get a debate going.
Just saying.

Wow! You did an awesome job on your window sticker! I wish I were that proficient with Photoshop, etc.

For now, I guess I'll wait and see what they come back with.

I belong to your Facebook group. When I finish my Nova and a '69 Z-28 after that, I hope to restore an LS6.

Lynn these days Window Stickers or POP's don't really count for authenticity towards a cars documents as they are reprinted materials in most cases. Protect-O-Plates are even duplicated from real NOS plates and warranty cards. There will always be owners of cars with fake documents and even fake Build sheets.
The bottom line is I tell people my Window Sticker is a re print but on the other hand it attracts people to understand what my car was born with by looking at that Window Sticker. My car has the real deal build sheet but I also put a reprint of that on the dash as God forbid I have my real one for some idiot to steal if I chose to display the real Build Sheet. I really don't think it is a problem for display purposes to show a Repro Window Sticker but when a owner or seller lies about his documents that is were the big problem is but in the end a new owner has to do his homework before buying a car with any kind of documents.

I have used Triple A Enterprizes in the past for several of my cars and the only time I had a problem it was corrected quickly and a new sticker was sent. I use mine exactly the way Blackls6 uses his and that is only to let people know what the car is and how it is equipped and nothing more. I have had a few ask if it is the original sticker and the answer is always no-it is only a reproduction. I even have triple A laminate mine so there is no question that it is a repro. I did not know there were some health issues at Triple A, hence slow service, as I have not used them in a while. Hope they get back to good health soon.

I have two build sheets with my car and over 800 photos so far of the restoration, detailed pics of the pad stamp on the L78 and CX400, etc., etc.

I am working on restoring my car to concours level (or as close as I can get) and when I do show it, I want to create the feeling of stepping back in time and seeing it as a customer would in a 1969 showroom. The repop window sticker is part of that attraction. I will always state its a repop if asked, and it should be fairly evident to anyone that its a repop as it will be so clean and new.

It is unfortunate that in our hobby there are people trying to deceive and defraud people. You absolutely must do your homework more than ever today when buying a collector car. This site is a huge help and also a great resource. For instance, when I bought this L78 Nova from a guy on this site, I looked at the photos he sent me and what he stated as fact about the car and what he thought about the car. I then asked another well known and reputable site member if he could vouch for the character of the seller. He did and that was good enough for me and the car has been everything that was represented. So, we have a pretty good thing going here when selling from member to member, that is for sure. Selling to the general public, Ebay, etc., its a different story. Case in point being that fake LS6 convertible being talked about on this site right now where it is pretty well established it started out as black paint small block car, not the red with black stripe LS6/M22 convertible it is now. I emailed the seller with questions and while he has a million so called &quot;restoration&quot; photos he is willing to post and share, not one of them is of the car before the restoration was underway! How does a guy take a bunch of photos of every detail as the car is being put together, but none of what he started with? Dead give away! Dead give away! (famous quote from that abduction in Cleveland).

Anyway, thats my two cents...

Hoping Triple A's health improves and I get a nice corrected repop window sticker soon.

No need for debate, and I wasn't trying to make anyone feel the need to explain his or her position. I get it; I just disagree, and believe the potential harm outweighs the good.

Once again, I want to emphasize, I intend no personal attack. <span style="font-weight: bold">I don't for a second question the character </span>of anyone who has posted on this thread. Just putting it out there. And, as stated in a PM to one of the guys, I don't think any less of anyone who puts a fake WS on his or her car. Each is entitled to his or her opinion. No one died and left me in charge of the hobby.

When I do my inspections all across the country all year, any time someone hands me a POP or window sticker any more I just look at it and say, yep thats nice. The fakes have become so good that I just seldom trust these documents anymore. With regards to buildsheets, what used to take seconds to see a fake can now take a couple of hours. They are still making minor mistakes on them but they are getting damn good at them even though it is fairly easy to spot fake weathering and aging. Unfortunately all it does is those of us with real documents mean less and less and people are beginning to not trust anything anymore.
