An update on Holly-and her kidney function....
 

I shared this on Facebook a few days ago...but I know that not everyone is on Facebook...so I will share it here as well.


Lynn and I would like to give an update on Holly's status with her kidneys. After three years of her G.F.R. (Glomerular Filtration Rate-which tests how well the kidneys are functioning) trending in the wrong direction...Holly's kidneys are having a hard time functioning. The doctor has explained to us that if Holly's kidney function keeps trending in this direction she will be looking at dialysis by possibly June of next year...or sooner.

He will see her in about 5 months (right before Christmas) and at that time, we will evaluate her kidney function again, If it is still trending down, we will discuss having a fistula done (A fistula is an access that is made by joining an artery to a vein under your skin to make a bigger blood vessel so that high volume dialysis can happen). He gave us the warning signs for kidney failure...so we know what to look for (Tiredness, irritability, scratching of the skin, swelling and sometimes nausea). Please keep us in your prayers...we'd appreciate it!
