Header gaskets

What header gaskets are the best for sealing and what are you guys using? Also, the best locking bolts you use? The headers are m/t scavengers on a 67 l78 camaro. Thanks. Jeff

Re: Header gaskets

I use Earls header gaskets with standard header bolts. I rarely ever have to tighten them.

Re: Header gaskets

Either Fel-Pro's or Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal header gaskets. Both are very good. I throw the ordinary white gaskets straight in the trash can or just give them to the mud truck guy down the street. He's always thrilled by that. I also avoid those fancy locking header bolts also and stick with regular high quality ARP stainless steel header bolts with the smaller 3/8 head. The advantage of using a smaller 3/8 wrench on some of the harder-to-reach bolts is great. You may have to run a wrench down the header bolts after the first few heat cycles but this takes every bit of 60 seconds and they will eventually take a "set" and remain trouble free.
