? on 1967 Camaro old drag car.

I own a 67 camaro I purchased back in 05 and had fully restored between 07-09.I purchased it because I wanted to restore a 67 camaro. I picked this car for it's options, rs/ss 396/325,deluxe interior, bolero red black top, headrest bucket seats. The car had lakewood traction bars, driveshaft loop, manual choke in the dash.
A 68 12 bolt BV code 4:10 with 5 leaf springs carpet removed, rear battery. The seats had all been removed but stored inside, except driver seat,
Ok so here's the question a few months ago I was cleaning engine compartments on this car and my other 67 unrestored BB and noticed my hand was a little harder to get between the firewall of the restored car. When I took measurements the motor was an inch closer to the firewall. But for the life of me I can't see where the difference is. The engine and motor stands all measure 1 inch closer to firewall. Any ideas?

Tony

You must have small block frame stands.( motor stands) Look at the part that hangs off the back of the frame on each car and you will see the difference. Big block stands don't hang over as far

No that's not it the motor stands is one of the first things I checked to verify
it being a bb car, but I double checked and looks just like the other bb car. I
also check the sb car I see what you were referring to that they hang over a bit more.
Heck I even check wheel base 108". It's like everything attached to the frame rails
has been moved back.

It sounds like this car was raced at one time. Any chance they cheated and moved the engine/trans back to locate some weight rearwards? Seems like a lot of work for only an inch which I doubt would make much difference. How is the trans mount/crossmember? Does the driveshaft look shortened?

Phil Brewer's blue L89 1968 Nova that raced pure stock class. They installed SB engine frame mounts for just that reason Rick, to get the engine back a little bit for better weight transfer.

Differences at the subframe mountings could create this too.

Yes it was definitely raced at one time. The car came from up north, I have a registration
for East Providence RI.
I will measure the drive shafts tomorrow.

So does your L78 car have a special paint code.
