I did mine myself. I did get a new bezel from my local locksmith, he had some old ones in stock that were a match to mine. He did not have any of the dust flaps(? ) but i was able to use some off other locks i parted out. The modern ones have a straight slot and not the correct key shape. It one of my pet peeves on a resto. A lot of nice cars out there with incorrect locks.

Repop locks stick out like a sore thumb.....first thing I immediately notice. Gives the impression, what else is repop on this car?

Stay with the original locks.

Can someone post a picture of the trunk locks? I have 9 packages, each with two locks, that came from the assembly line many years ago, from the Flint plant. These have a 90 degree bent part attached to them, different on each lock, like maybe a trunk and glove box set, with the keys that have GM stamped in them. Sealed bags.

Find a complete original set of locks (Hopefully Tony has what you need), take them to your locksmith....have them all re-keyed to your original keys....I assume your steering column is all restored and ready to go.
Don`t forget the glove box.

Again, nothing worse than a restored car with one too many keys....because of short cuts

So, what is an NOS 3990959 GM trunk lock worth? Two 1969 style GM keys (H code), never used. Key code is stamped in the little knock out area. Has correct key shaped slot. I noticed the repop ones are $20 with two GM keys.

And while on this topic, how would you go about knocking out that half moon shape? Does someone make a punch in that shape?

To be correct,Locksmiths can't just re-key an original lock to every original GM key, unless they share the same profile opening.
Each year,GM used a different key lock face profile/slot.
You'll have to find a vintage GM lock, with a profile that was also used during your vehicles year.
They alternated their locks every 4 years or so,so it's not that difficult,as you can use a lock that was coded a few years before or after yours was.
Otherwise they can't make em fit your cars original keys, and you'll have to have multiple keys on your keychain.

I have a few NOS sets left in the box,but not sure what years I have right now.
