#1 ZL-1 at Russo & Steele

I was going through my new Muscle car Review last night and noticed that Russo & Steele had sold the #1 ZL-1. From other readings isnt the #1 car the one Bill Porterfield found and restored? I know from that text that 2 Dusk Blue ZL-1's were delivered to Fred Gibb Chevrolet on Dec 31, 1968. I'm wondering if that one, Russo & Steele was #2. Anyway, beautiful car no matter what the number.

That is ZL1 #14. It is body #1. In the 50 that Gibb ordered the body #'s were sequential.

49 of them are; 1 is not. The 49 are not in sequence with VINs.

The seller liked the car better without the wheelie bars so he took them off. He later sold them and a bunch of other parts to Porterfield. Porterfield knew they were important to the car so he sent them and the front end display rack to me. Thanks again Bill.
