1965 impala SS 409
 
Here is an interesting car...

Only the early 65's had the 409 as the 396 replaced before midyear. Not sure what part of that story was supposed to be interesting but I disagree with the statement about these cars NOT being popular in the early 80's. Got mine in 78 and it was all the rage. a buddy of mine had a 1965 409 low hp car loaded even had power vent windows blue on blue hard top he passed away the wife solded the car i not seen this car in 10 years

----The serial # might help if he had included it, and the fuel line is probably longer toward the front of the car if the line is similar to former years. Radiator would be different, now that i think about it. Also, check the front fender callout holes as to weather they are stamped or drilled for the 409, and, of course, the rear-end. All I can think of at the moment.....Bill S

The car was built at Baltimore, not Georgia. With a body build date of 01B (2nd week of Jan.) its right in that window when orders for the 409 were help up/not accepted until the release of the 396. A 4 core radiator would indicate either the 409 or the 396.
