school me on wiper motors [GM]

Heres my problem!
I bought a 68 Camaro. Turned on the wipers and it has a 'parking' wiper motor. So the wiper jumped the lower screen mould and ofcourse, chipped the paint [you prob heard me from the USA]

So would this wiper motor be out of a late 60s Impala seeing it 'parks'? Im not sure what is interchangable model to model.Dont know what I have and what it should really suit. All I know is that a 68 Camaro shouldnt have park wipers ya?

Do I need a 68/9 Camaro ONLY wiper motor, and what other models will interchange if at all?

cheers Dave

I cant answer all your questions, but.....I do know that the washer pump design in the pic is a 68 design.....it may have been used on earlier yrs, but 68 for sure and NOS ones have sold for 400 dollars.

Like enio45 said the washer pump looks correct and the more I look at the motor it might be correct? Maybe just mounted wrong? I thought the assembly only mounted one way. But I could be wrong. The wash pump should be on the left side not on the top. Maybe all you need to do is rotate the assembly?

Dave, you have it mounted wrong. Should be like this.

Hmm. OK it was fitted when I bought the car, diddnt pay attention to that.I do know the guy replaced the firewall and the full floorpans when restored.
Turning the motor wont change the parking of the blades though,so the motor must be from another model??....
Would an Impala motor swap into a Camaro? I cant see any Pt# numbers anywhere on this when mounted

cheers Dave

Yes it will change the parking of the blades. What I would do is remove the three screws then disconnect the wiper linkage. Most likely you will have to rotate the arm that attaches to the motor. Then bolt the motor like shown and with out the linkage bolted back up see if your motor works correctly back and forth. Then re-attach the linkage.

What's the numbers on the end plate of the motor?

Ok, The motor will not mount up in the position like the 68/9 pix above. I removed mine,it has a round hole in the firewall and no recess. The wiper motor I have has a round back that recesses, ie it is not a 'flat back" motor. Im thinking it is a motor to suit concealed wipers?

I could just make out some of the Pt# on the end plate..

50465441 maybe 594?
TYPE E
V

I dunnno what this guy has done, but looks like he has fitted a round hole 67 top cowl ya? It has definately been replaced when restored. Im not to up on these Camaros, but I think a round hole is 67 , a oval is 68/9?!

So I guess what I need is a round back NON Concealed wipers- wiper motor!?
