Fuel Injection Restoration Advice
I am starting to gather information for the restoration of my 63 L84. I feel comfortable with my abilities with the mechanical end of the unit. I do have a few questions about cosmetics.
1. How does a person deal with the rivets retaining the data tag? Any tips for restoring the tag itself? Here's a pic http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...0L84/017-2.jpg 2. Between the plenum and plenum lid, what is the preferred method of restoring the proper appearance? It seems to me reskinning looks a little too perfect. Here is what I have to deal with. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/...0L84/015-2.jpg 3. Same question as #2, but pertaining to the air meter and fuel meter. Not to take anything away from people like John DeGregory or Jerry Bramlett, I just like to do as much as I can myself. Thanks, Tim |
Re: Fuel Injection Restoration Advice
The rivets are most likely drive rivets/drive screws. same thing used to hold the metal shield to the bottom of an aluminum intake/or the heat stove to a cast iron exhaust manifold. They have a fast pitch helical thread.
LQQK @ this As far as the aluminum finish, I would find someone in your area that can tumble those parts, my bud has one in his shop and I do some alternators in his and they look nice when done. Mike |
