Tom, I saw your pics on photobucket. Any idea what happened to the original smog system for the Nova? Just curious if the previous owner decided to hold on to it or trash it.

Re: 1970 Nova SS L78 TH400
Sal, Tom bought that car from me and I bought it from the original owners wife. (He passed away) and I don't believe the automatics got smog. Anyway the car was drag raced and street raced early in its life with a LS6 engine while the numbers motor Sat on a stand. Anyway that's a pretty untouched car with all its original parts. "Lots of people in our area remembered that car being a beast on the street with that LS6

Re: 1970 Nova SS L78 TH400
As Donny mentioned this car is a pretty solid old survivor. I went thru the motor and tranny before I put it back together along with some of the mechanicals. It must have been something with the LS6 motor back in the day
By the way...it runs pretty good now, too **All of the L78 and LS6 cars in 1970 came with smog...there was no exemption for the automatic cars. |

Re: 1970 Nova SS L78 TH400
The only 70 Camaro i remember was the one that the guy in the wheelchair had with hand controls. His girl would run it all night and when he got a money race at the end of the night he would get behind the wheel and the fricken thing would bring the front wheels off the ground and he would usually smoke the other guy. It never got old. Loved watching him run that car.
