Tank Sticker Archaeology

Dennis and I dropped the tank today on my 1969 Convertible. It's a 23,000 mile Survivor. Pretty Cool Stuff!

Wow! Great options on that Vette. A Conservator can clean and preserve that tank sticker.

John,

I don't know what the dates mean. I remember reading something about it but I don't recall. Any help on that one?

Greg,

Most of it was just dirt that brushed off. We cleaned everything including the tank, covered the tank sticker with plastic, took a bunch of pictures and reinstalled the tank. The Bloomington folks tell me that you shouldn't remove them.

Sam,

I think it had to be a 350/350HP to get 4.11 gears. I don't think you could get them with the 300HP engine.

Wow - very nice car to say the least Ed! Also, with no VIN on broadcast sheet, documenting the tank removal is so important. Great job.

My '67 broadcast sheet has the correct year (67) as the final two digits in both "date" boxes. Not sure what's going on there.

Re: Tank Sticker Archaeology

Thanks gentlemen. This was a one owner car until 2009. It's a really great car with a number of receipts for warranty work from the original selling dealer, Jack Sommers Chevrolet. I also have the original protecto-plate. Unfortunately, the original owner passed away.

I was really curious about the tank sticker because I wanted to verify all of the options on the Corvette. I couldn't have been happpier when we cleaned it off.
