Musclecar Dealers & Low Production Factory Freaks

Lets see how wild we can get with finding Musclecars that were either Dealer converted or Factory freaks. I'll start things off with the James Garner BAJA SC/ramblers.

What is a factory freak?

I could name a '67 Park Lane with a 410 4-speed, but it's not really a freak because it was offered by the factory. Different people have different inferences on what a freak is.

I guess factory freak is a rather vague term. Things along the lines of COPO's, 4 door Hemi cars, fleet orders (think Bengal Chargers) are along the lines of "freaks" IMO.

In 1960 Chrysler built 9 300F with 4 speed transmissions and 400HP 413 with soldid lifter cams. The cars were intended strictly for a few chosen drivers to compete in Daytona speed week. 7 cars ended up in the hands of selected customers, Andy Granantelli being one of them. 2 made it to "good" Chrysler customers not involved in Racing. The cars were beasts to drive on the street.

4 are known to exist today with one just recently selling for $400,000.

Now were rolling. How about the 4 1964 2% Mopars?
Ramchargers, Dodge Boys, Melrose Missile and Lawman.

An amazing read.

10 or 12 years ago, I knew a kid with a 69 Cougar painted up just like that Cuda. He'd found it in a local garage. It was a 70s time capsule, red tinted windows and all. Had a worked 429 with a 4 speed and some ridiculously low gear in the back. The thing couldn't get over 70 mph, but it was pure hell stoplight to stoplight.
