Bob Feller HOF

Bob Feller passed yesterday at 92. What a great guy he was, loved to talk to the fans. Glad I got to meet him.

HIs career would have been even better...but like a lot of the players back then, his career was interrupted by his service in WW2

Godspeed Bob!

Yes he was. Joined a few days after Dec 7th. and served 4 yrs. right in the middle of his prime pitching career. He most likley gave up around 100 wins during that time.

RIP Bob....

Re: Bob Feller HOF

What a remarkable man and American he was, in addition to being one of the best ever to pitch.

From Van Meter, Iowa signed a major league contract at age 16
Skipped minors Struck out 15 in his first major league game

Threw a no hitter to start the season opener in 1940

Like Ted Williams served his country (4 years in WWII)
First year back from the war went 26 - 15 with an ERA of 2.0 & 36
COMPLETE GAMES, Ted Williams said "Three days before he pitched, I'd start to think about Robert Feller...I'd sit in my room thinking about him all the time".

Career Accomplishments
8 time All Star
THREE NO hitters
21 "ONE HITTERS"
Led league in strike outs 7 times
WON AT LEAST 20 GAMES 7 TIMES

The Bob Feller museum is located in Van Meter, IA for anyone traveling through on I-80 in the future...only about 1 mile off the Interstate.

Local station interviewed an elderly gentleman this week still living in the area that faced Mr. Feller in high school. Said no one even wanted to step in the batter's box when he pitched. In those days he not only threw hard but didn't always know where the pitch was headed.
