My old '61 Belair race car
I few people here know I had owned this car for a very long time, then finally had to give up on the idea of bringing it back as a race car (not knowing it's heritige). After finally selling it to the actual guy who raced it back then, and just recently, selling him a full set of NOS side moldings (un-obtainium), I find that it is for sale. I guess he's decided not to take the time to bring it back. I think it's priced too high (my personal opinion) but here's the listing
http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1872018890.html I wish someone would decide it's worth bringing back as the "Mousetrap" rather than just using it as a body for ANOTHER bubbletop 409 clone. I have no connection to this car other than memories (dreams and plans). Just thought I'd mention it. Neat car - did I miss where it was mentioned what it had for an original engine?

Re: My old '61 Belair race car
Jake,
It was originally a 6cyl, 3-spd car that migrated into a drag car, mostly with a 283. It had a little stint with a 409 but the owner never could get it to run right and gave up on it and went back to a 283. Verne |

"I was told that the car will remain in the family "forever", and that was a very good thing to hear."
Sad to see that did not stay true. I have had many of my restorations take the same route and sometimes that hurts. |
