69 Leaf spring plates
Looking to confirm if any 69 12 bolt Camaros or Novas came from the factory with leaf spring plates with the sway bar mounting extensions on them (even if the sway bar was not availble at that time).? I understand that F41 suspension was an option on 69's, but don't beleive any rear sway bars actually made it to production. Thx

Re: 69 Leaf spring plates
I have an 11a built 69 Z/28 that only came with one on the driver side and it had no F41 suspension.

Re: 69 Leaf spring plates
No '69 was built with those.
The spring anchors were modified to include sway bar mounting tabs for the '70 model year. The new part replaced the previous version in the P & A manuals. Not unusual to see bent or cracked anchors. We used to stock them and I cut off lots of tabs on the band saw at work. |
Re: 69 Leaf spring plates
My 1970 Nova SS built in November also came with the sway bar extensions on the lower rear spring plates.GM documentation shows it cme with the F41 suspension however there no upper sway bar anchors welded to the floor pan .Bob

Re: 69 Leaf spring plates
There are actually 2 designs of the F41 spring anchor plate, one version is consistently found on original cars. The original version has the 'ear' integrated into the plate as one piece, and the ear has angled sides. The later version is quite different, the 'ear' is actually rectangular and is welded onto a non-F41 plate. These F41 plates are RH vs. LH specific due to the placement of the holes in the 'ear's. We've seen more than a few diff covers rubbed up because the plates were reversed and the bar hits the cover!
