Gas Tank Filler Necks: Anatomy/Physiology?

Anyone separated the top most piece of the filler neck on a gas tank? This is the piece that the gas cap fits in to. I am thinking this may be soldered in place and might not be to difficult to separate with modest heat applied. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Thanks for your input. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Gas fumes, heat source, what could go wrong. Will be looking for a glow to the south of my place.

I'm no maroon. I'll empty most of the liquid out of it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

South of your place https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Hell he darn near lives in Mexico.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Hay Sammy
Never messed with the top fitting, and I agree, it is soldered in place. I have unsoldered the pipe filler on a new tank because of alignment issues.
Don't be scared, just do it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Make sure you don't cause a flash fire Sam. Those are equally as dangerous!

I vaguely remember someone filling the gas tank with water before applying heat and replacing a neck https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif
