Square Flange headers ID?

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w.../sqrheader.jpg

I'm not too familiar with some of the older headers. I've got a guy on CL with these and I know the square header collector's are usually an indicator of things being an older design.

Can anyone tell me what these are?

I would say Appliance or Blackjack from the separate flanges on each primary tube.

BBC Headers that have those individual port flanges like that are a pain in the ass.

I'm with Mark on that one. When I had my speed shop (now in a past life it seems), we sold tons of gaskets for Appliance headers.....You can probably guess why <g>.

Re: Square Flange headers ID?

I'm pretty sure that my '68 Firebird had square flange headers on it when I bought the car in May of '68. I never had any problems with them and never did know what brand they were. They can weld up headers in a jig, but I wonder if they ever check to see what shape the headers take after they have been run through a few heat cycles. The collector can move quite a bit in relation to the car around it. The first headers we put on the Chevelle worked fine for a couple of days, then I couldn't get the transmission into reverse. The collector had moved enough to be interfering with the shift linkage on the transmission. It happens when any weldment is stress relieved.
